About Mt. Cho-Oyu Expedition

Cho Oyu (8,201 m.) is the sixth highest mountain in the world at above sea level. Cho Oyu means "Turquoise Goddess" in Tibetan. The mountain is the westernmost major peak of the Khumbu sub-section of the Mahalangur Himalaya 20 km west of Mount Everest. The mountain stands on the Tibet-Nepal border.

Just a few kilometres west of Cho Oyu is Nangpa La (5,716m/18,753 ft), a glaciated pass that serves as the main trading route between the Tibetans and the Khumbu's Sherpas. This pass separates the Khumbu and Rolwaling Himalayas. Due to its proximity to this pass and the generally moderate slopes of the standard northwest ridge route, Cho Oyu is considered the easiest 8,000 metre peak to climb.

  • Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu, welcome at Airport and transfer to hotel.
  • Day 2Free day in Kathmandu for Check the all equipments and climbing gears.
  • Day 3Meeting, briefing and final preparation day for the expedition.
  • Day 4Kathmandu flight to Lukla 2,823m. and trek to Phakding 4/5 hrs overnight at lodge 2,622m.
  • Day 5Phakding to Namche Bazaar 6/7 hrs overnight at lodge 3,440m.
  • Day 6Explore day in Namche Bazar, for acclimatizing visit to Everest view hotel back to Namche.
  • Day 7Namche to Dole 5/6 hrs overnight at lodge 4,200m.
  • Day 8Dole to Machharmo 6 hrs overnight at lodge 4,410m.
  • Day 9Machhermo to Gokyo Lake 5/6 hrs overnight at lodge 4,750m.
  • Day 10Gokyo rest day for acclimatization walk up to Gokyo Ri have panoramic view of Everest Makalu, back to lodge.
  • Day 11Gokyo to Ngozumba Tso 6/7 hrs overnight at camping.
  • Day 12Bgozumba Tso to Cho Oyu Base Camp overnight at camp side. 5,400m.
  • Day 13To 35 Climbing period for Cho Oyu summit 8,201m.
  • Day 36Cho Oyu Base Camp to Gokyo Lake 6/7 hrs overnight at lodge.
  • Day 37Gokyo Lake to Dole 6 hrs overnight at lodge.
